Almost a century
of Vision
Since 1925, we have traversed the evolution of cinema and television with the same craftsmanship and passion for technical innovation.
The Origins and SACI
In 1925, SACI was founded by Virginia Genesi Cufaro, sister-in-law of Alfredo Calabria. Alfredo designed the first Italian rotary printing developer in the facility, marking the beginning of an era of mechanical innovation in cinema.
The Foundation
Mario Calabria, after his experience at SACI and specializing in special effects and Truka, founded Studio Calabria. It became the main supplier of Italian Technicolor for opening credits, Truka processing, and cartoons.
The Chemistry Era
A Swedish 35mm chemical subtitling machine was purchased. Roberto Calabria, the current president, took over. The Studio was among the only three companies in the world covering the Latin American market and major Italian festivals.
Televideo RAI & Mediavideo
With the OLIMPUS satellite, we entered TV. From 1993 to 2009, we were suppliers of Subtitles for the Deaf (page 777) and English subtitles (page 778) for RAI, a division directed by Marina Ascenso.
Mediaset Exclusive
We provided exclusive subtitles for MEDIAVIDEO, the Mediaset Group's teletext.
The Digital Revolution
First with Simone Calabria, then with Valerio Calabria, a new generation opened the doors to digital. The Studio became a reference point for home video, from early DVDs to emerging Blu-rays.
Today: The New World
Since 2010, the Studio has expanded into satellite channels and the On-Demand world. In a fast and virtual market, we maintain the same artisanal care as our origins.
